When I am thirsty I drink coke. There are times and things that a bottle of coke will not satisfy. Sometimes we are willing to take any and everything that doesn’t satisfy maybe because of ignorance or maybe because we do not want to know the Lord yet.
Maybe we do not know enough to trust Him or maybe we think He does not hear us or that he does not love us enough to do something…
Well He already did something. His son hung on the cross for us whom He didn’t know who were dead and in sin just to prove the love of God for the world and to bring it closer to home, the love of God for you and I.
If nothing speaks of the love of God at all, let Psalm 91 speak. It says if you dwell in the shelter of the most high, you shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. It says that He will cover you with His feathers.
Feathers speaks of protection. Protection is the covering of the almighty God, His shield over you.
Lessons from college:
When I was taught about the realm of the spirit in college I understood that doors, windows, the steel concrete walls we sometimes trust in to keep us safe from robbers don’t exist in the realm of the spirit. What does exist is angels and God’s covering and that is all that we really have.
Maybe you can see now why the covering of the shadow of His wings is important.
We are safe in the bubble. Shielded, protected, looked after, taken care of. By the almighty God, the God of angel armies, the host of heaven stand guard and protect His covenant people. We are shielded because of His grace and His love.
We are His masterpiece. He is the artist who works on us. He isn’t finished making the tapestry and He picks only the best materials to make it and all that He has picked is perfect in His sight for the purpose for which He has picked us.
John 4: 14
But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.”
John 7: 37On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
38To the one who believes in Me, it is just as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water’” will flow from within him.
39 He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.…
A little of my soul:
Are you thirsty?
Sometimes I am so thirsty, I feel like I am in a desert, not physically thirsty but soul thirsty and Spirit thirsty. There is something the Holy Spirit does in my spirit that when I don’t get food, I need to run to my bible and read. When I have been exposed to the thinking of the world for a while I feel like I am drowning. Some people live in it as though it is normal but the thinking of the world is alien to me.
We are not created to live from this earth that is consumed with evil thinking daily of what the newest evil it should carry out. We are created to live from heaven and the word you feed on when you read your bible is a foretaste of the life God has called us to live in heaven.
When you read your bible, don’t think this is so far from reality. Look at the earth and say, this is so far from reality. Let your soul cry out, let your kingdom come. Mean it when you say, Lord let the earth become like your kingdom. If it is only my voice that you hear saying, let your kingdom, let me be the voice that you answer.
A little outline from online bible study with scriptural backing for the cynical:
Here Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as the living water. External influence of the Spirit had always been given in the conversion and sanctification of the Old Testament saints and prophets, but the gift of the Spirit who would indwell believers had not yet been received (Acts 10:44–45). So, though many people say that Jesus is the living water, Jesus Himself intended the phrase to mean the Holy Spirit who dwells in believers and seals them for salvation (Ephesians 1:13–14). It is the ministry of the Spirit, flowing out of a heart redeemed by God, that blesses believers and, through them, brings life and light to the world.
Matthew Henry Commentary
7:37-39 On the last day of the feast of tabernacles, the Jews drew water and poured it out before the Lord. It is supposed that Christ alluded to this. If any man desires to be truly and for ever happy, let him apply to Christ, and be ruled by him. This thirst means strong desires after spiritual blessings, which nothing else can satisfy; so the sanctifying and comforting influences of the Holy Spirit, were intended by the waters which Jesus called on them to come to Him and drink. The comfort flows plentifully and constantly as a river; strong as a stream to bear down the opposition of doubts and fears. There is a fulness in Christ, of grace for grace. The Spirit dwelling and working in believers, is as a fountain of living, running water, out of which plentiful streams flow, cooling and cleansing as water. The miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit we do not expect, but for his more common and more valuable influences we may apply. These streams have flowed from our glorified Redeemer, down to this age, and to the remote corners of the earth. May we be anxious to make them known to others.
Be willing to be a student of the word of God, as soon as the Spirit of God notices your willingness, He steps in to help you grow the growth that pleases the Lord
Open your bible or the internet and read these scriptures out to yourself.
A little of my soul again:
I hardly open up to people but for the sake of the gospel I am willing to try. I have been entrusted with the treasure of heaven. It is a little difficult to explain because most people live from earth to heaven, instead of heaven to earth.
Some are so trapped in this world they can’t imagine that heaven is interested in them and in the way they live their.
Heaven makes me conscious of God and what He wants and How He cares and loves and seeks. God is amazing!
God is love. He is the true rescuer. Everyone else on earth is seeking to be rescued one way or another. Jesus is the true saviour, selfless and sacriicial.
The best of us
imitate Him or try to follow His path and sometimes we get lost but He’s always there, with us, leading, guiding, protecting.
He is powerful. In fact, all power belongs to Him. Everything! The power in the church and the one that witches and wizards use to cause havoc. All of it is is.
“All power and authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me“
Sometimes we forget. sorry!
